I don't usually watch TV. Two years Eri and I hadn't flipped on the tube and life was good. But sadly there has been a resurgence of late. All it took was an airing of Back To The Future 2 at a friend's place to lure us back in. We thought "oh...we can catch part 3 next week..." and before we knew it we were knee deep in rules of engagement, don't forget the lyrics and other retarded shite disguised as entertainment. Last night the dreadful television is on again, at another friends place, when the so-called news presented the inauguration of Obama. Man what a ride that was!
Obama! Obama! Obama!
Please! please! please! CHANGE the fucking record!
I am so tired of hearing about this guy. The cult of personality that surrounds this him is of near Stalinist proportions, just that is enough to turn me off. A mere ten minutes of this stage managed "moment" made me nauseous. It was just plain creepy, like the Nuremberg rally but instead of saying "seig hiel" it was "y'all".
Then came the parade of interviews with the moronic public. Each supporter of the "chosen one" teary eyed and semi-illiterate..."Can y'all see me??" being the most memorable quote. All of them unable to coherently explain why this moment was so special. I've got a theory as to why they couldn't: Because it simply isn't special. Think about it, the guy hasn't done anything yet to deserve this level of adoration and hero worship. And the "first black guy to be elected president" angle I care very little for. It's 2009 America! You should have done this 30 years ago when it would have matched the cultural momentum. But no. You're a nation to stupid and complacent you need to have someone mass marketed at you like Jessica bloody Simpson in order to vote him in.
People, he's just another US president, in a long line of US presidents, poised to dominate, pressure, and cause more unnecessary trouble for the rest of the world. Sigh...the sad illusion of democracy continues, this time with a messiah cult to boot.
In our country it was just as bad. The Courier Mail's front page story yesterday said "Australian's woke up to a new US President". God what total bullshit that is. Australian's don't "wake up to US presidents". Australians wake up to AUSTRALIAN prime ministers. Those of you who wish to incorporate themselves into the American Reich can jolly well bugger of to Chicago!
Another news cast went on a world tour of Obama worship only to hit a brick wall in the Gaza Strip: "He's another American President...", the attractive Palestinian girl said, "...and he won't make a difference". "Thank God" I thought. Finally something on TV I can identify with, understand and say "yes! spot on hot chick with rubble for a house!". I could see the angle Channel Ten were working on her: "Stupid Palestinians spoil the Obama fun-o-rama! Will they ever lighten up? They act like they've got more important things to worry about, like being bombed back to the stone age by Israel. How bloody selfish!"
When this guy is in second term, the world in flames, and the Obama fanatics are rounding up people for the "camps". I'll be very selective about the people I let into my bunker. Well I have no time to waste, got some digging to do!
